On Friday 6th February, us and the Doctor’s Orders are throwing a special party at Gorilla to celebrate the life and music of a true genius of Hip Hop – J Dilla. As well as Spin Doctor and the legendary Mr Thing, some of Manchester’s finest DJs will be coming through to play some of their favourite Dilla records, and all proceeds will be split between the J Dilla Foundation and Lupus UK. There will be exclusive merch available on the night, such as limited edition T shirts, sweathshirts, mugs and badges etc, as well as various Dilla CDs and Vinyl.
Definitely don’t miss this if you’re a Dilla fan, it’s always an incredible night every year. You can grab a ticket here for £6, although larger donations are also welcome of course.
Slum Village – Get Dis Money
J Dilla – Won’t Do
De La Soul – Stakes Is High
We’re back at it again at Gorilla this Friday night… We know you’ve already spent the Christmas money your nan gave you on high class hookers and underground bear fights, so we’re doing a January Sale special, with advance tickets available for just two pounds. Grab one here before they sell out…
Here are some snaps from the madness that was our sold out NYE party at South, big ups to everyone who came down and bathed in the showers of confetti and champagne. All photos are by Dom “Perignon” Varden as usual, and the rest are up on our Facebook page.
This New Year’s Eve we’re partying at South on South King Street, going in with our usual mix of rap, rum, R&B, rewinds, R Kelly and regrets the next morning. The early bird tickets were £5 but they’ve all been snapped up already, normal tickets are a tenner and can be bought here. The MEN has recommended it as one of their top 10 NYE nights in the city, so you’re best to grab a ticket sooner rather than later. Here’s a small taster of what to expect on the night, anything from James Brown to Justin Timberlake:
Here are some photos from our massive 5th birthday bash at Gorilla courtesy of our regular snapper Dom “Perignon” Varden. Cheers to everyone who came down and partied, as well as the UGLY DJs for their amazing guest set, and sorry to all of you who got sprayed with champagne. The rest of the photos are all up on our Facebook page.
Don’t forget to grab a ticket for our NYE bash at South here before it sells out!
This month we’re celebrating our birthday at Gorilla the only way we know how – with a huge party. Can’t believe it’s already been 5 years since we threw our first ever event at Subspace (RIP). Since then we’ve gone on to play with Snoop Dogg, the Wu-Tang Clan, Jurassic 5, De La Soul and hosted the likes of Grandmaster Flash, DJ Premier, Raekwon and Jazzy Jeff, and generally had a ball. Big shout out to everyone who’s been coming down to our nights and making them so good, whether they’re in Manchester, Liverpool, London or elsewhere…
We’ve got a few friends coming down to play and help us eat cake on the night, such as the exceedingly handsome UGLY DJs from Sheffield. The £3 advance tickets are already selling like hot cakes made of gold and heroin, grab yours here.
Notorious BIG – Juicy
This Friday night we’re back to party at Gorilla, and this month we’re celebrating some of our favourite producers with four special sets.

Snoop Dogg – Gin and Juice (produced by Dr. Dre)
Wiggie Smalls will be playing the best of The Neptunes, with jams from Justin Timberlake, Kelis, Snoop and more…

Dapper don Rich Reason will be dropping the best of chubby genius Timbaland, so plenty of classic R&B…
Aaliyah – Try Again (produced by Timbaland)
And last but not least our homeboy Danny Beck is playing the best of Just Blaze, one of the favourite artists we’ve ever been lucky enough to have play at Juicy…
Jay-Z – Public Service Announcement (produced by Just Blaze)
All the usual Juicy heat from the streets the rest of the night, from R&B to party Hip Hop, Bashment, Garage and more. Grab a ticket for just three quid here.
This Monday sees the start of freshers week in Manchester, and what better way to welcome the young ones to the city than the annual Juicy vs Murkage bash at the Ritz. Last year was absolutely mental, with over 1000 ravers going HAM until the early hours, and this time round looks set to be just as crazy…
All early bird tickets are sold out already, but you can still grab a £5 one here.
Bam Bam Bronsolino is back with another instant classic music video. This time he’s paying homage to the 1969 film Easy Rider, which includes old school choppers, bar brawls, a native indian, machine guns and a guitar solo on top of a giant rock in the desert.
Action Bronson – Easy Rider
As an added bonus, here’s the latest in his culinary series for food web channel Munchies, where he explores some of the finest NY eateries:
Action Bronson – Fuck, That’s Delicious (Episode 4)
We’re back at it again this Saturday night at the Shacklewell Arms in Dalston. Come get wild for the night, we’ll be jamming to the best party hip hop, R&B, bashment, disco, garage and more, and it’s just £3 before midnight.
